Role: Circular Economy Senior Manager (Lead) - Global remit

Location: Austria- fully remote (there are offices if you prefer to attend the office)

Salary: c€100-140k + 30% bonus & package

This newly created role presents a rare opportunity to create a global circular economy framework from scratch within a Global 500 company, across the breadth of their business and additional operating companies. True career-building role as this Global 500 business has no current Circular Economy Framework, highlighting the significant results that can be achieved. You'll have full oversight of the project, creating the strategy and operationally delivering. You will work with a range of stakeholders internally and externally to deliver, including the Global SLT and board who provide significant support for this project.

To be successful, you'll be a subject matter expert (SME) in CE and have led global CE programmes/frameworks. Further, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to form relationships across the business and externally, influencing and overcoming any potential stakeholder reluctance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Establish clear circularity strategies and targets positioning the client as the industry leader in circular economy and waste management
  • Support the development of the overall circular economy roadmap to achieve relevant sustainability targets and external commitments. This includes an overall governance model for circularity, recycling and waste
  • Coordinate and align circular economy roadmap to achieve the targets and accelerate targets, if needed
  • Develop "strategic scenarios" and simulations to provoke future thinking as input into risk and business planning processes, including stress tests to assess emerging trends
  • Lead the definition of group strategy for "waste to value" supporting the business to create value around waste usage
  • Establish partnerships with other industries to achieve circular economy goals.
  • Focused communication internally & externally about circular economy. You'll help create the narrative around circular economy supporting the sustainability reporting team
  • Identify and promote actions to achieve the necessary changes in regulations to encourage the use of recycling materials across the construction value chain
  • Provide education and training via internal leaders and with external support
  • Align public policy and industrial positioning for circular economy

Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and responsibility of circular economy frameworks within a large, global organisation - especially if within a manufacturing/chemicals/packaging/building materials/aluminium/steel type industry (not essential)
  • Significant experience in sustainability, environmental, waste strategy or associated roles
  • Experience in managing global programs in a large complex multi-country organization
  • Relationships with industrial organizations, government and non-government linked with the circular economy, at a global level
