Role: Corrugated Converting Operations / Maintenance / CI Manager - North America
Location: Fully Remote (you can be based ANYWHERE in the US)
Travel: c4 days per week on average. This is likely to be one site for 4 days, then home for 3 consecutive days, then another site the week after etc. These trips will be pre-planned and can be scheduled around.
*Current Right to Work in the USA required*
This exciting role spans North American manufacturing with a leading global packaging company - with most of the sites on the East Coast. The role spans three core areas: operations/process, technical/maintenance, and process improvement across the division.
There is currently a lack of operational process and technical knowledge within the US sites, so you'll ideally have operational and maintenance knowledge of the corrugated converting process, including die-cutting, flexo, printing, folding, glueing etc. On the maintenance side, you'll ideally have basic experience of troubleshooting machinery, completing machine calibrations, and training the plant teams on equipment etc.
Once these technical and operational improvements have been achieved, you'll lead the implementation and support of major initiatives for process improvement and elimination of loss for North America, while also liaising closely with your European counterparts.
The role:
- Assess, develop and action improvement plans, with a focus on driving KPI improvements
- Provide operational & technical leadership to identify areas for quality improvement and waste reduction with both the site operational teams and the Divisional Operational Excellence Director
- Collaborate with the Engineering Lead for Improvement to create systems & plans to ensure standard calibrations and maintenance programmes are standardized and implemented
- Support trials and lead the implementation programmes
- Transfer knowledge & expertise to train teams into converting process experts & leaders
- Lead the implementation of standardization and maximization of Process Control across the client's asset base, in conjunction with the Divisional Quality Manager and Engineering Director for North America
- Ensure good practices are developed and embedded to preserve system functionality of critical assets
Requirements:
- Corrugated converting environment (die-cutting, flexo, printing, folding & gluing etc)
- Leadership, training and coaching abilities
- Ideally:
- Operations experience - an understanding of the process, materials and stages of corrugated converting
- Maintenance experience - someone who can troubleshoot and ideally complete machine calibrations etc
- Continuous improvement (CI) and change management experience a bonus
