Role: Indirect Senior Buyer

Salary: Up to £44K + Pension

Location: Edinburgh (2 days p/w in the office)

I have a fantastic opportunity to join an award-winning procurement team who aim to deliver world-class Procurement & Commercial services to a high profile (Top-20 World Ranking!) academic institute. Based in the heart of Edinburgh, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, this role has a lot more to offer than meets the eye!

My client is currently undergoing a major transformation, linked to their 2030 strategy, as they extend the scope of their influence and impact across the £1bn world-renown organisation.

Role:

  • Reporting to the Category Head, you will be responsible for the tendering, award, and contract management of a range of indirect procurement projects; as well as strategic commercial initiatives stemming from market engagement and spend analyses spanning Indirect Services including IT (Hardware & Software), Technology, Professional services, HR, Consultancy and Legal.
  • Understanding of cost drivers in a purchasing environment and experience of cost reduction activities previously.
  • Supports the supplier relationship management of business-critical vendors.
  • Negotiation of pricing, payment terms and rebates with suppliers while also on boarding new suppliers.

With a large pipeline of imminent projects, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop a range of Procurement skills including spend analysis, market research, supplier identification, contract negotiation, as well as post-contract supplier performance and contractual adherence.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Demonstrates some experience of Public Sector Procurement - familiar with PCR and OJEU regulations
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion to help shape and develop the organisations Procurement service.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of end-to-end tendering procedures, including use of e-Tendering systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills and commercial judgement.
  • Ideally Degree qualified and studying CIPS
